How To Watch Private Vimeo Videos on Your Smart TV or Apple TV

How To Watch Private Vimeo Videos on Your Smart TV or Apple TV

If your life story family history film videos are on Vimeo but set as “Private” and require passwords, they are unsearchable, even with the right tags. Only public videos are searchable and yours aren’t public.

So how do watch your videos on your Smart TV? You’ve got two options.

The first option is have us make your videos Public. We can put in search keywords so that your videos can easily found on any device in the world. This is the best approach because you and your distant descendants won’t have to pass on the password or lose access because the links or the password is forgotten.

The other option is to add your private Vimeo videos to your Watch Later list in Vimeo using your laptop, phone, or tablet. Just follow the video links you received by email. Bookmarking those links in your browser is a good idea too so you don’t lose them.

Step 1

Set up a free account at https://vimeo.com/upgrade

Step 2

On your computer or laptop, log in to your www.vimeo.com account.
In your email program, open the email message that has the vimeo links to your private videos.
Open one video, enter the password.
On the top right corner of the video, click the Clock Icon to Add To Watch Later list.
Repeat this for each video, adding each video to your Watch Later List.
You only need to do this step once per video.

Step 3

On your Smart TV or Apple TV or other streaming device, load up your Vimeo App.
Sign in to your free account.
Access your private videos from the Watch Later list.
You’ll still need to enter the password for each video, as long as they are set to Private, rather than Public.

Now your private videos will play on your big Smart TV!
