Family Film or Book Criteria
1) Interesting Stories
You've got two to ten ancestors and some interesting stories about them. Basic facts about them are not interesting stories. What is interesting? Challenges, adventures, obstacles, triumphs, tragedies, love stories, emigration, defying the odds, survival, inventions, artistry, community leadership, public figures, and examples of loving, caring families are interesting. Your own life could be featured also.
2) Imagery
Every family movie or book needs some images in it. These days there's lots of relatable stock imagery that can be used if your project is a little light on photos. But there's nothing finer than a real image of the real person. And many shots are better than one. If you've got a bunch of paper print photos still in albums or boxes we can get them digitized and put them into your film or book. If you've got digital photos on your phone, tablet, computer, hard drive, or flash drive we can use those too. Also, things like documents, letters, clothing, medals, and anything visual can be interesting in a movie or book.
3) Time and Passion
While we do all the interviewing, writing, image processing, and design, there's still a job for you to show up to help make content decisions on things like which one of those 27 baby pictures should be used? We'll need your input on colours, style, names spelling check, and fun things like dedications and credits. All of these things do take some time but most of it is enjoyable and rewarding. Unfortunately I don't take on projects when there's nobody in a family who wants to take the "Producer" role and call the shots.
