Gathering stories and information about ancestors through interviews can be easily done online using modern video apps. With just a basic internet connection the moving image and voice can be recorded in excellent quality with your smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam. Video recordings look great and can be up to 4K resolution, depending on the webcam of the person being interviewed.
Delaying interviews usually means losing stories and characters which can lead to project setbacks. By getting your parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles interviewed as quickly as possible you can preserve the most precious stories and a first hand impression of the people you care about.
Pre-Interview Consulting
Prior to the interview you'll receive a Life Story Questionnaire to complete and return in advance. You'll also get a list of tips to prepare for your video interview plus a list of customized questions. We'll do a quick phone or Zoom chat to answer your questions and plan the interview.
Interview Questions
You'll receive an email with a link to our online browser-based interview platform. Our professional personal historian will help you feel relaxed and focused during your interview. We'll take at least one break partway through. Interviews are fun and enjoyable.
Transcripts, Audio, & Video
After the video interview you'll receive a link to watch and download your unedited video and audio files. Plus you'll receive transcribed editable text for your book project or narration script. You can then put together your family history book or film or we can do it for you.
